GOD AS A UNIVERSAL PRESENCE

How do you describe God? What about the God who is ‘everywhere’, a universal presence that sustains, energizes and holds everything that exists? God as a ‘universal presence’ is a presence beyond our imagining and beyond any dogmatic statement. God is not a super person shaped according to our human notion of person. God is not a localized person looking down on us, who controls and intervenes when he wants to and who favours some people and not others.
The God that Jesus told us about was not into separation and exclusion. Jesus’ message is that we all embody God’s presence. Jesus was not concerned about bringing that presence to them. He wanted people to become aware of what was already there. Don’t we need a course correction? Isn’t the ‘Kingdom of God’ in our midst, now, with us?
